With the launch of the iPad upon us, Time magazine's latest issue features an hour-long interview with Stephen Fry and Steve Jobs. Check out the close-up of Jobs on the cover. With the iPad set to ship on Saturday, I cant help but feel that I am witnessing an epic moment in tech history. I also get the feeling that this may be Job's last hoorah.

Web Albums brings Picassa Galleries to the iPad

Submitted by Chris on March 31, 2010 - 12:59am

It would have been great if the Photos app for the iPad allowed you to sync your Picasa albums wouldn't it? Well, one upcoming app promises to make browsing your online galleries just as elegant and finger flicking good as the built in app. Introducing Web Albums, they even have the spiffy pinch to spread eye candy. I hope they plan to enable Flickr albums also. Check out the sneak peek video below:

Sneak Video Preview of Kobo Books' Upcoming iPad App

Submitted by Chris on March 26, 2010 - 1:10pm

Just days after Amazon teased us with the upcoming Kindle app for the iPad, Kobo Books has posted a sneak peek video of what they have been working on. Like Apple's iBooks app, Kobo sports a highly interactive bookshelf UI but with even more customization options. It looks really good.

With Barnes & Noble also expected to have their own e-book app available at launch, the iPad will have content available from all the major e-book stores. This will immediately make it more appealing than a stand-alone device from any of these companies...
I'm still a bit puzzled as to why Apple did not make iBooks a default app however.

Untethered Jailbreak for 3GS, iPod Touches, maybe iPad

Submitted by Chris on March 26, 2010 - 2:46am

Geohot has posted a teaser video of his latest jailbreak software that will successfully provide you with an untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 3GS and the 2nd and 3rd gen iPod Touches. Currently, owners of these devices can jailbreak using blackra1n, however, they need to keep their device connected via the USB cable during reboots. This was caused by a change in the boot rom in the iPhone 3GS and some nand flash technicalities with the iPod touch. Apparently these problems have now been circumvented. Most importantly however is that Geohot thinks the new jailbreak software may also work on the iPad. Hehe...a jailbroken iPad.

Screen Rotation Lock Switch on iPad

Submitted by Chris on March 12, 2010 - 10:22am

Oliver Drobnik has just pointed out via Twitter that the ring/vibrate toggle has been replaced on the iPad with a screen rotation lock switch. Many people had criticized the iPad for supporting rotation in all orientations when Jobs first demoed it in January. For example, the screen rotation lock will make it easy to read content while lying on your side in a sofa or on a bed without having it rotate to landscape mode.
